DEAD SCARED
After writing the book Dead Scared, I lent it out to a number of friends. Without exception, as they returned it, they said "This would make a great film." I didn't pay much attention at first, but eventually it dawned on me that perhaps they were right. I got hold of The Screenwriter's Bible and for a warm-up wrote a script version of Future. Then I wrote a screenplay for Dead Scared. It took me almost a year, even though all the plot and most of the characters (and indeed much of their dialogue) already existed in the book. Condensing a book into a script is hard.
